Thor: Love and Thunder Ending Explained

After putting his self-discovery to a halt with the arrival of a huge threat, Gorr the God Butcher who promised to kill all the gods, Thor gets himself into a sticky situation with Zeus as he steals the lightning bold but he knows he has to save the children of Asgard held captive by the villain.

The arrival of Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor may have confused Thor at first but in the end, she was the clarity he needed to succeed. As they figured out that the plan of Gorr was to open the doors to Eternity, a cosmic being, they team up to stop the villain.

With Jane's cancer worsening and King Valkyrie being stabbed, Thor faced Gorr but he wasn't alone, the Asgardian children held captive became his army when he blessed them with his powers. Still, Jane didn't back down, she knew Thor would need her.

Together, they defeat Gorr but the cost is too much for Thor: Jane's life. Thor realized that through the hardships he faced, he'd still choose love. Before Jane died, she reminded Thor to keep his heart open.

In front of Eternity, Gorr finally reunited with his daughter, the main reason why he did everything in the first place. As Gorr's life fades away, he asked Thor to care for his daughter, choosing love. After all, he did it all out of love for her.

Korg narrates the story of the Mighty Thor, how Jane Foster died a hero of Asgard and saved the children who were held captive by Gorr. He even shared that he found the love of his life and that King Valkyrie personally gave self-defense lessons to the children of Asgard.

As for Thor, he found a new purpose, a new role in life: a parent to an orphan, from one orphan to another. Thor took Gorr's daughter under his wings, even taught her lessons in combat. With Gorr's daughter being born by Eternity, she possessed powers, too.

Korg reveals that they are called "Love and Thunder," with the daughter of Gorr as the former and Thor as the latter. It was quite cheesy, but it is a new path that Thor could take, a chance to find a new purpose in life other than fighting, a road that is led by nothing but love.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now showing in theaters.
