The blip has been one of the most defining events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the question of who has been snapped out of existence or who stayed is always asked after that momentous occurrence. For Jane Foster, the official trailer of Thor: Love and Thunder suggests her fate during that time.
In the official trailer of Thor: Love and Thunder, to the surprise of everyone, even Thor, when he was about to retrieve the Mjolnir, someone else got ahold of it first and it’s a significant other from his past: Jane Foster. She wields the now-reforged Mjolnir and dons the suit of the Mighty Thor.
Awkward because it has been a few years that passed but when Jane was asked how long had it been since they separated, her answer was “three or four years,” and Thor’s memory remains sharp saying that it had been eight years and seven months since the last time they saw each other.
In that moment, it hints what happened to Jane during the blip. See, all those who lost five years of their lives because of the genocide of Thanos came back as if not a day has passed for them. This was seen in various characters such as Yelena, Monica Rambeau, among others. Jane’s answer could be indicative that she has been snapped by Thanos and brought back by Hulk.
How Jane would have gotten ahold of the Mjolnir is a story for another day, one that is yet to be told, possibly in some other trailer.
Thor: Love and Thunder marks the debut of Jane as the Mighty Thor, and while Jane Foster already appeared in the MCU, this time, she becomes a heroine, wielding the Mjolnir which is now reforged, possibly pieced together after Hela broke it in Thor: Ragnarok. It comes as a surprise to Thor, probably not expecting his ex-girlfriend like that, but surely, it would be a great story to tell on how she becomes the Mighty Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8, 2022.
