Among the movies of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Thor: Love and Thunder and the Norse god’s upcoming movie under his name is something new for the individual flick of the heroes in the franchise as he would be the first to have four while others had three. However, since a delay has been announced for the other films in the slate, is it the same for this one, and if so, when is the new release date?
Is Thor: Love and Thunder Delayed?
With the delay of one, a domino effect comes into place as it would push back the release dates of all other movies as well. Unfortunately, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth phase, this would be happening. With the delay of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes with the delay of all the other films following it up until Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
Thor: Love and Thunder remains to be in post-production and it will be having a new release date which would be on July 8, 2022, pushing back Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever a few more months from its original release date.
This is not the first time the schedules of Marvel got delayed. Since the movie industry is one of those which has been hardly hit by the pandemic due to various cancellations of in-person gatherings and strict health protocols, the whole slate of Marvel moved back to when it would finally be allowed to be released.
Still, even when it has been allowed for release, what makes it more difficult is that theaters are not the same anymore. Due to the pandemic, moviegoers tend to pass on the chance of watching a new movie to lessen the risk of being exposed to COVID-19 because even when a person is vaccinated, the virus can still latch itself on anyone it wishes.
As the industry is slowly reopening, reschedules of the release dates are completely understandable considering that no one could control this virus, even if it means delaying the arrival of the new wielder of the Mjolnir, Jane Foster.
Thor: Love and Thunder will have its release on July 8, 2022 in theaters.
