The Sea Beast is set to come out on Netflix on July 8, 2022.

The streaming service announced the animated film in 2018. The film was initially called Jacob and the Sea Beast, but the title was changed later on changed to The Sea Beast. It will most probably be the biggest animated film released by Netflix for the summer.

Karl Urban (from Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, and The Boys) will be the star of The Sea Beast playing the character of Jacob Holland. He will be joined by Zaris-Angel Hator (Victoria, Endeavor, and Morbius), who will be lending her voice to the character Maisie Brumble.

They will be joined by Marianne Jean Baptiste, Catherine Burke, and Jared Harris. The other actors joining the show are Baraka May, Kaye McLean, Benjamin Plessa, and Dan Stevens.

Chris Williams will be the writer, director, and producer of The Sea Beast. Williams has worked within the animation world for several decades, starting out working for The Disney as a story artist, with his first major project being Mulan. He has worked in many of Disney’s hit films. Some of his latest involvements include co-directing for Moana and directing in Big Hero 6. Jed Schlanger will be the producer of the movie.

The Sea Beast is set in a world where monsters and fiends roam the Earth and hunters gain fame by conquering the most ferocious beasts.

Netflix released an update to the synopsis of The Sea Beast:

In an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes – and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland. But when young Maisie Brumble stows away on his fabled ship, he’s saddled with an unexpected ally. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history. THE SEA BEAST takes us to where the map ends, and the true adventure begins.

The Sea Beast Trailer: Is There a Trailer for The Sea Beast?

Netflix released the official trailer for The Sea Beast on June 8, 2022. It acquainted us with the great Jacob Holland, a renowned monster hunter, and Maisie Brumble, a young stowaway who makes Holland question everything he believes in.

The Sea Beast was part of Netflix’s 2022 Movie Preview.
