Have you ever wondered how good guys are so good at being good and how evil guys are so good at being evil? It's because they went to school for it, of course!
In 2022, The School for Good and Evil is open for enrollment.
Netflix's live adaptation of the successful novel franchise will reach our screens. The rights for the book adaptation were originally owned by Universal Pictures and have been in the works for the past 11 years. The production for the film only moved forward when Netflix acquired the rights for the film, and a new team was brought on board to put things in motion.
Now that the movie is out, here is everything we know about The School for Good and Evil.

Some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry will join the cast for The School for Good and Evil.
Sophia and Agatha
Sophie Anne Caruso will play one of the lead characters of the film, a young lady unironically named Sophia. Caruso came from a theatre background, starring in several plays on Broadway, including Beetlejuice, where she rendered a memorable performance as Lydia Deetz. Laurence Fishburne will play the School Master along with other renowned stars, such as Kerry Washington, who will play Professor Dovey.
The other Hollywood personalities who are part of the cast have previously released successful shows on Netflix like Charlize Theron, the lead actor in The Old Guard, who will play Lady Lesso, and Michelle Yeoh, star of the upcoming The Witcher prequel, The Witcher: Blood Origin, who will play Professor Anemone. We get to see our first look at Professor Anemone on August 18 through a photo posted on the movie's official Instagram page.

The School for Good and Evil Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?
Paul Feig will be directing The School for Good and Evil. Feig has directed a number of comedy hits like the 2016 version of Ghostbuster, The Heat, Spy, and Bridesmaids. The School for Good and Evil is based on the novel with the same title by Soman Chainani. Chainani also wrote the screenplay with David Magee.
Siam Costumes International prepared the clothes for the film, while NVIZ takes credit for the special effects.
The School for Good and Evil Plot: What Will be the Movie's Plot?
As we mentioned earlier, The School for Good and Evil follows Soman Chainani's novel with the same title. It is the first out of the six volumes that make up the entire series.
The book tells of two girls who live in the village of Gavaldon, where every four years, on the eleventh night of the eleventh month, two 12-year-old children are chosen and taken away to the School of Good and Evil. This year, best friends Sophie and Agatha are picked to attend the school, but things are not how they dreamed it up to be.
Fair-haired Sophie, who always dreamed of being whisked away to School to be a princess in love with a handsome prince, becomes a student for the School of Evil to become a Never, while Agatha, filled with insecurities and hopelessness from her graveyard home, becomes a student for the School of Good to become an Ever.
Was there a mistake? Or was this the way things have always been destined to be?
We have to wait and see if the film will follow the original premise of the novel and what changes will be followed, if there are any.

How Well Did The School for Good and Evil Perform?
The School for Good and Evil performed relatively well upon its release on Netflix, ranking as the top movie in many countries.
The series was well-received by the general audience, but critics would have loved to see a deeper exploration of the film. The School for Good and Evil earned a 75% audience score out of 500+ reviews but with a comparatively low score of 35% on the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes.
The overall critics' consensus from RT reads:
The cast is game and the visuals are dazzling, but a deeply derivative narrative menas The School for Good and Evil flunks on the storytelling front
Other reviews shared the same opinions of the show and were more relatively optimistic. The New York Times wrote:
To that end the film often gets meta in the cheekiest ways, whether it’s Agatha snapping to the voice-over narration (by Cate Blanchett), “You know we hear you narrating, weirdo,” to Sophie dismissing a character with the quip, “The protagonists are speaking.” But the film doesn’t have the space to expand all of its ideas and gracefully unfold its plot, which is full of so many narrative twists and reversals that “The School for Good and Evil” equates to a whole TV season untidily packed into a feature film.
Where to Watch The School for Good and Evil: Where Can I Watch the Movie?
You can watch The School for Good and Evil exclusively on Netflix now that the film is released. The film is one of the titles included in Netflix's Geeked Week 2022, along with Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, Resident Evil, and The Umbrella Academy.
It took a while before The School for Good and Evil received the adaptation it deserves. The film has a new fantastical world we can't wait to explore, and we have high hopes that the film will be everything we expect it to be and more.
