Tim Bradford, played by Eric Winter, and Lucy Chen, portrayed by Melissa O'Neil, were unanticipated fan favorites in Season 1, and their romance is one of the best aspects of the show. By the end of The Rookie Season 5, though, could Winter be leaving?
Fans Speculate Tim Bradford Could Be Written Off in The Rookie Season 5
Following The Rookie Season 5 Episode 13, one fan created a Reddit thread in which they made assumptions about a spinoff in which Winter will play Tim Bradford again.
“I will 100% watch an Eric Winter lead show over The Rookie: Feds,” a Reddit user commented.
“So we’re all agreed that The Rookie: Metro is the next spinoff, right?” another fan wrote. “A proper backdoor pilot is gonna happen pretty soon, I’m sure, same as Feds. Eric Winter can handle a lead role.”
Some people do not, however, think Tim will leave The Rookie after Season 5.
“[I don’t know] if they would take Eric Winters over to a spinoff with the success of Chenford and how ratings are right now,” another Reddit user pointed out. “It would be a very poor decision [in my opinion].”
The Big Move to Metro
In The Rookie Season 5, Tim and Lucy eventually gave in to their affection for one another and went on a date. Despite the fact that Tim was a sergeant in Mid-Wilshire, he was still Lucy's boss in Season 5. To make their relationship appropriate, they needed to find a method for him to move out of her line of command.

Tim was worried they would scarcely see each other if Lucy offered to relocate out of their station. As a result, he got a desk job at Mid-Wilshire as a Court Liason Sergeant.
In The Rookie Season 5 Episode 13, Lucy hatched a plan to get Tim, who was obviously unhappy in his new employment, a better one. And thanks to some covert maneuvering on the part of Lucy, a job suddenly became available in the LAPD's Metro Division.
In Episode 13, Tim did take the Metro position.
The more important question is whether ABC will continue The Rookie for a sixth season. The likelihood of the show getting renewed, nevertheless, is high.
