Comicbook reported that Nintendo is very unlikely to release The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 in the first half of the year. The publication added, if the much-awaited game sequel would not drop, another Zelda title might be launched instead.

Famous leaker Samsus Hunter claimed, in a tweet, that something from the Zelda series would hit the shelves this year instead since “there are other titles” in the franchise in development. He wrote:

"A Zelda product will be released this year as always, as there are other titles in development, but right now the plans are still a late 2022 release, and if a delayed happened, they would announce it around April/May because that's usually the period for the new FY projection.”

During the 591st episode of the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast, IGN co-founder Peer Schneider made a thought-provoking comment about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 release. He stated the lack of open-world games arriving in Nintendo Switch could change “next November when we’re playing Breath of Wild,” potentially hinting at a late 2022 release for the highly anticipated title.

But, of course, all of these should be taken with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct. Nintendo has previously confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is presently on track for a 2022 release window and a launch around the holidays seems to be realistic at this point.

Will The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 Be Available On Switch?

Reports suggested that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 would only be made available to Nintendo Switch, unlike its predecessor that was simultaneously released on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii U. Others are hopeful that the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro would be released by the time of the game’s release.

Video game designer Eiji Aonuma previously revealed that Nintendo is making The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 because it had numerous concepts for the game’s DLC.

During E3 2019, he explained:

"When we released the DLC for Breath of the Wild, we realized that this is a great way to add more elements to the same world. But when it comes down to technical things, DLC is pretty much data--you're adding data to a preexisting title. And so when we wanted to add bigger changes, DLC is not enough, and that's why we thought maybe a sequel would be a good fit. Initially, we were thinking of just DLC ideas, but then we had a lot of ideas and we said, 'This is too many ideas, let's just make one new game and start from scratch.'"

Though Nintendo has not yet announced when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 would be available, gamers can now preorder the upcoming sequel at various retailers, including Best Buy and Amazon.
