The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 3: What is Zemo's Motive for Killing Wilfred Nagel?

There is little doubt that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 3 was a major shock for fans as Baron Zemo escaped prison with Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. In addition to that, the villain killed the only person who knows how to replicate the Super Soldier serum. But what pushed Zemo to do that to Dr. William Nagel?

In Power Broker, Bucky managed to help Zemo escape prison by secretly starting a riot. They then head for Madripoor where they learn about Power Broker hiring a former Hydra scientist to recreate the serum. But when their cover is blown, Sharon Carter swoops in to help them out and brings them directly to Nagel.

There's a lot of interesting intel from Nagel as it is confirmed that he had recreated 20 doses of the serum. However, all of these were immediately stolen by Karli Morgenthau. Although they learn all this from Nagel, Zemo promptly kills the man and destroys his laboratory.

It's a surprising move considering that Nagel is the only known person who can recreate the serum. So why did Zemo kill the scientist? It may have something to do with the idea of getting rid of all superheroes. By killing Nagel, he may have ensured that there will be no more Super Soldiers in the future.

Interestingly, this could also mean that Zemo is determined to kill the Flag-Smashers who have taken the serum. We may find out whether they can handle the villain in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 4.

The latest episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
