The Duke of Death and His Maid Episode 6 doesn't give us much by way of solutions, but it's incredibly heartwarming and shows that what plot the show has, is finally picking up.

The show is still a slice of life about Alice and the Duke basically being cute around each other, but they are also more resolved than ever to break the Duke's curse, so we expect some twists in the latter half of the 12-episode show.

In Episode 6, the Duke and Alice clear the overgrown conservatory. Since the Duke can't touch anything without killing it, he uses his curse to remove unnecessary plants and dries some flowers to make a crown for Alice. Later, the two have some fun trying to save Alice's gown from a cat.

Cuff and Zain arrive to sneak Alice and the Duke into another dimension, where a witches' Sabbath is to take place. The gathering is much more relaxed than you might think, though this is partly because Zain gives our main characters special cloaks to hide their human scent, and tries to pass them off as his siblings.

To their surprise, the meeting only lasts 5 minutes, and the witches talk about administrative issues. The leader, Daleth, is revealed to be the woman who confronted Alice a few episodes ago, saying she knew her mother. Sadly, she has bad news; the witch who cursed the Duke is long-dead, and she knows of no way to bring him back to normal.

The Duke and Alice have to flee in fear when their human identities are revealed. Back home, the Duke is frustrated but also relieved that he now understands his curse better. He and Alice agree that it's too hard to be unable to touch and the resolution to break the curse becomes stronger.

While I'm not crazy about the ecchi elements and the overt teasing, I have to say, I really respect the creator's decision to make this an explicit relationship where both characters are equally interested in each other. It's really heartwarming and makes you believe they will withstand everything together.

The Duke of Death and His Maid Episode 7 is set to be released next Sunday the 15th of August on Funimation. No English dub has been announced at the time of writing, but this could change in the following weeks.
