The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale May Have Hinted That Season 3 is About Boba Fett

The Mandalorian season 2 ended in a highly-exciting episode with "The Rescue" where it brings Mando and his allies face to face with Moff Gideon's Imperial forces. After blasting stormtroopers, avoiding a platoon of dark troopers with the help of a very special character, and capturing Gideon, the crew managed to complete their mission to save Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda. By the end of the episode, it seems like the group's next goal is to take back Mandalore.

However, that may not be the part where The Mandalorian season 3 picks up the story. In a surprising post-credits scene, Fenenc Shand and Boba Fett can be seen marching into Jabba's Palace in Tatooine. In the end, Boba was scene sitting on Jabba's old throne while Fennec Shand sat on the throne's arm before the scene cuts to black.

The scene was not the only most surprising part. The words The Book of Boba Fett appeared on the screen followed by, "Coming December 2021" which confused fans. Would this be a new spin-off series? This is not entirely impossible as there are rumors that Disney is apparently planning for a Boba Fett series before The Mandalorian 3 comes on.

However, there are a few things to consider. First and foremost, Disney recently had their Investor Day and afterward, they announced the projects in line for the next few years, including series that will be on Disney Plus. The Mandalorian only has two announced spin-off shows namely The Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka. Other than that, there were no other announced spin-off series that may hint at a Boba Fett spin-off.

Another factor is that The Book of Boba Fett will be released in December 2021. What other Disney+ series will be released in December 2021? The Mandalorian season 3 will be released on Christmas of 2021. The release dates for The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian season 3 coincides along with the fact that Disney did not announce any Boba Fett series after the Investor Day.

The only two options are that Disney is planning to have two Star Wars show running at the same time on Disney+ next December or The Mandalorian 3 is about Boba Fett. What about Din Djarin? In season 2, Din has seemingly completed his mission. Din has rescued Grogu, safely handing to Luke Skywalker. The duo's farewell doesn't mean it will be final but it seems like Din's mission is achieved. That doesn't mean that his story is over but The Mandalorian 3 may aim to widen its storytelling to another iconic character. There is no confirmation that this is true but it can be a plausible scenario.
