This late summer, the highly-anticipated Star Wars series Ahsoka will finally premiere. Not only Rosario Dawson is returning to reprise the role of Ahsoka Tano as the lead this time around, but it will also bring back characters from Rebels in live-action form.
As expected, Lucasfilm is still keeping several details from the upcoming series under wraps, but it will continue some of the story threads that were left off in Rebels.
Now, another update from the upcoming series has emerged and it looks like a beloved character from the past animated shows will be making a special appearance.
Temuera Morrison Will Reportedly Return as Captain Rex in Ahsoka
According to One Take News, Temuera Morrison will appear as Captain Rex in Ahsoka. It is unknown yet whether he will appear in flashbacks or the present timeline or how many episodes he will appear in.
There are also no details yet on whether he will also play the other clones when he shows up in the series.
In the live-action shows, Morrison is known for playing Boba Fett in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. If he does appear in the upcoming series, it will be yet again another different role for him to play in the Star Wars franchise.
Lucasfilm has not commented on the report yet although there is a likelihood that they will not confirm his involvement until the series airs.
In case you forgot, Captain Rex, who made his debut in The Clone Wars, is one of the troopers that was cloned after Jango Fett and a friend of the Jedis such as Ahsoka Tano. He was also not involved in executing Order 66 since he had his inhibitor chip removed.
The character also appeared in Rebels albeit in an older version and other animated shows such as The Bad Batch and Tales of the Jedi. His potential Ahsoka appearance will be his first live-action form.
It is certainly exciting to hear that we might see Morrison in the show, especially in the role of Captain Rex, who has become a fan-favorite character. It is interesting to see how he'll play into the story of the series.
Who Else is Set to Appear in Ahsoka?
Besides Dawson as the titular character, the series also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo (as Sabine Wren), Eman Esfandi (as Ezra Bridger), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (as Hera Syndulla), Lars Mikkelsen (as Grand Admiral Thrawn), and David Tennant (as Huyang).
Hayden Christensen, Genevieve O'Reilly, and Diana Lee Inosanto will also appear to reprise their respective Star Wars roles while Ivanna Sakhno and the late Ray Stevenson are playing new characters.
The show's synopsis reads: "Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy."
