Although it took some quite of time before the long-awaited Thor: Love and Thunder trailer arrived, fans are already on the edge of their seats after witnessing Chris Hemsworth’s fan-favorite God of Thunder once again. Director Taika Waititi is back again to helm the sequel, pushing a July release date, fans are in for a treat as the promotional run for the film has already begun.
Alongside Thor, Love and Thunder will also feature some recognized characters like Valkryie, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jane Foster as the highly-anticipated Lady Thor. If that's not exhilarating enough, critically acclaimed actor Christian Bale is also set to join the MCU playing a villain role, Gorr The Godbutcher.
While we only have nearly two months to wait until Thor: Love and Thunder premiere, director Taika Waititi shares some new details that would surely add anticipation for the upcoming film.
In an interview with Empire, Thor: Love and Thunder writer and creator Taika Waititi teases that the sequel is "a fantastic film."
The director explained, “It’s a fantastic film... I don’t try to control my films, or how they turn out... I sort of let them appear to me. And with this film, I’m like, ‘Hey, you’re kind of cooler than the thing I was originally hoping to make.’ Tonally it’s where I’ve always wanted it,"
The director went on to tease that fans would absolutely be delighted if they believe Love and Thunder is just a common love story between the two mighty Thors. “I think most people will assume that the love story is between Chris and Natalie, Waititi said. "I can’t promise that what people think is going to happen in this film will happen.”
After the triumphant box-office success of Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, it's no doubt why Marvel Studios decided to bring back the director to helm another sequel of the Thor franchise. Aside from the box-office receipts, fans have continuously debated that Thor: Ragnarok is among one of the best MCU films of all time, because of its comedy elements, exciting plot, and the colorful energy of the film that certainly wins the fans.
Now that director Taika Waititi is back, fans extremely have hopes for the upcoming film. Maybe it will be as good as Thor: Ragnarok, or maybe even better. Nevertheless, Jane Foster's introduction as Lady Thor and Christian Bale's debut as the sinister villain Gorr The Godbutcher are already exciting enough, and it's just up to Waititi how he will play with the characters to match the energy of the upcoming film but still maintain its comedy elements.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit the big screens on July 8, 2022.
