New Star Wars Report Reveals the Release Windows of Upcoming Movies
A recent report from Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider revealed Lucasfilm's current plans for the release windows of the upcoming Star Wars movies.
He claimed that The Mandalorian & Grogu is eyeing a May 2026 release, a date that Disney and Lucasfilm have already secured for a potential Star Wars movie that will be released.
The Daisy Ridley-led New Jedi Order movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will potentially arrive in theaters in December 2026. Despite what some rumors have claimed, the project is still happening with the key creatives remaining on board.
The project was originally intended to be the next movie in the franchise until Lucasfilm decided to fast-track The Mandalorian & Grogu.
As for Dave Filoni's MandoVerse project, Sneider suggested that the film will not likely arrive in theaters until 2028 since he is also more focused right now on the development of the second season of Ahsoka.
Lucasfilm also has a secured release date in December 2027 which may likely go to James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi movie, which also remains in development at the moment since the director is busy with another project.
As for Shawn Levy and Taika Waititi's respective projects, both of them are still in earlier stages of development and we can safely bet that it is far ways off before we can see them in theaters.
So far, Lucasfilm has not commented on Sneider's report nor confirmed the planned release dates of their upcoming Star Wars movies.
It would be curious to see whether these alleged release windows will end up being confirmed and, hopefully, there won't be another delay since a lot of fans are eager to see the franchise again on the big screen.
