Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 Drops Another Heartbreaking Departure

It's Bad Batch Wednesday and fans were in for a treat as two episodes of the second season were dropped this week. However, the animated Star Wars series also gave viewers something to cry about as The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 saw one important member of Clone Force 99 said his goodbyes.

In The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8, Captain Rex enlisted the Bad Batch to help him after Senator Riyo Chuchi is almost killed by a clone assassin who was sent to kill Slip, a clone who has evidence of Admiral Rampart's involvement in the destruction of Kamino. The team set out to recover Slip's copy of Rampart's command log from his Star Destroyer so Chuchi can reveal his treachery before the Senate and finally stop the recruitment bill he is trying to pass.

The Bad Batch is able to retrieve the command log and Chuchi accuses Rampart before the Senate. However, Emperor Palpatine suddenly appears, ordering Rampart's arrest and uses the evidence against the clones, personally passing the Imperial recruitment bill.

With the clones' fates now uncertain, Echo decides to stay with Rex so he can help his brothers. While the rest of the Bad Batch accept Echo's decision without question, Omega tearfully says goodbye to her friend.

It's a truly heartbreaking scene although it was inevitable for Echo to leave the Bad Batch. What makes it even more emotional is that he is nowhere to be seen when we see Rex again in Star Wars Rebels. For now, Echo's fate is unclear but we are hoping that he gets the conclusion he deserves in future episodes.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 7 didn't feature any members of Clone Force 99 but focused on the clone troopers who were involved in the destruction of Kamino.

Both The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 7 and Episode 8 are now streaming on Disney+.
