With recent reports revealing that Ahsoka Tano will be making the jump to live-action, along with some rumored Star Wars Rebels characters, a new rumor suggests that Grand Admiral Thrawn will be making his live-action debut as well.

The rumor comes from Mikey Sutton (via Bounding Into Comics), revealing that his sources claim Thrawn will be jumping to live-action, possibly in the next two years. The scooper also noted that Lucasfilm will "gradually decrease" animated Star Wars projects, but not cancel.

Given the success of the first Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian, the Mouse House "strongly believes" that the franchise is "better served with live-action." "The stories that would have been animated programs have more commercial potential as live-action series," the scooper said. "Which will then help rejuvenate their theatrical counterparts."

Created by Timothy Zahn, Thrawn made his first appearance in the 1991 novel Heir to the Empire. The character was eventually introduced in the third season of Star Wars Rebels, in the "Steps into Shadow" episode.

It's unclear as to what project the character will be making his live-action debut in, but there's certainly some Star Wars fans who are excited for Thrawn to make the jump. There are more stories left to explore about Thrawn and there's no doubt that the Star Wars universe is expanding, especially on television, so it won't be surprising to see the Admiral in a live-action project in the near future.
