Now, fans are taking time to remember the Star Wars princess by taking to social media to share tributes to the actress, writer, and mental health advocate. Posting on Twitter, fans remember what a remarkable person Carrie was, remembering her for all that she's done for the community.

Aside from her contribution to the galaxy far, far away, fans have also been taking the time to remember Carrie for her wit and her brilliance.

Check out some of the tributary posts that fans have been sharing online:

Carrie was such an amazing woman. She had such a brilliant personality and such sharp wit and humor, all of which showed in the way she spoke and the way she wrote. She was larger than life, conquering her own personal demons and writing about her struggles with substance abuse and with her bipolar disorder. She was an active mental health advocate, and she wasn't afraid to talk about her own battles with mental health.

Unfortunately, Carrie passed away on December 27, 2016 after experiencing sudden cardiac arrest four days after a medical emergency during a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles. Because of her passing, Carrie could not work on her scenes for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Lucasfilm was forced to make use of unused footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi to complete Leia's character arc in Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently screening in cinemas.
