Star Wars: Episode VIII Thanks Ireland’s Support During Filming With Local Newspaper Ad

Ireland has welcomed the cast and crew of Star Wars: Episode VIII with open arms while filming in various locations on the European country. Now, the people behind the movie have officially thanked the good locals who facilitated their stay via a message on a local newspaper.

Star Wars: Episode VIII began filming in Ireland two weeks ago, with director Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Daisy Ridley (Rey), and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) flying in to the Belfast airport to film in Donegal.

They then flew to Cork two days later before filming in other different locations the next two days after that. The following days also saw the cast and crew shooting at Skellig Michael.

The Irish Examiner ad (via The Belfast Telegraph) reads:

Lucasfilm and the Cast and Crew of the 8th installment of the Star Wars saga would like to thank the people of Crookhaven, Goleen and the Brow Head Peninsula for the warm welcome we have received throughout our location shoot here in West Cork.
We have been captivated by the landscape of the Wild Atlantic Way, it has provided a spectacular backdrop for our story.
The tireless commitment of our Irish Crew, the enthusiasm and support of the people of West Cork have made our Irish adventure one we will always treasure.
Go mbeidh an fórsa leat!! - May the force be with you!!

Despite the cast and crew's efforts at trying to keep a tight lid on production details on Episode VIII, there have been videos and photos that eventually leaked from the sets. A few weeks ago, drone footage of the Millennium Falcon was revealed and Ridley in Rey costume was also spotted at Malin Head.

Last week, Rian Johnson announced via Twitter that they have wrapped up filming in Ireland.

Thankfully, no major spoilers were leaked. As usual, rumors abound, but we won't know for sure whether the speculations are correct until Johnson or the studios release an official statement.
