Star Wars: Diego Luna Says Andor Will Reveal Cassian as a 'Dark Wounded Person'

It has already been established that Cassian Andor is a hero after he sacrificed himself to get the Death Star plans to Princess Leia Organa in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. However, Diego Luna claims that his character's heroic side will not be evident in his upcoming spin-off series Andor. Instead, we'll be seeing a "dark, wounded person" in the Disney+ show!'

When we first meet Cassian Andor in Rogue One, he immediately kills an informant, sacrificing the man's life for his own survival. By the time the movie ends, Cassian has gone through so much that he goes out of his way to ensure that their mission is accomplished.

Since Andor takes place several years before Cassian even meets Jyn Erso, we'll get to see what he was like before the events in Rogue One and Diego Luna tells Total Film that we will get to understand why the character told Jyn that he has "been in this fight since I was six years old."

"That talks about a wounded man," Luna said. "We find him in a place where he’s not aware of how capable he is of transforming or being part of change or executing such a sacrifice, but he is the man that comes out from fighting since he was six years old."

"He's a very interesting, dark, wounded person," he continued. "You’re not going to believe that he's capable of what he does in Rogue One."

We're already expecting to see a different side of Cassian Andor later this year and hopefully, we'll get to understand what drove him to join the Rebellion in the first place. Needless to say, we can't wait for the show to premiere next month.

Andor is set for a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on August 31, 2022.
