The conclusion of Star Wars: The Clone Wars after seven successful seasons left a lot of fans heartbroken but it opened the door for a brand new animated series that will hit Disney+ a few months from now. Star Wars: The Bad Batch was first teased in the finale episode of Clone Wars which premiered on May 4, 2020, aka "May the 4th" but the official confirmation of the series took place during Disney's 2020 Investor Day.

To those who failed to catch up on The Clone Wars' grand finale, The Bad Batch consists of a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army — each member possesses a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

Now, Star Wars finally revealed the clever release date for the much-awaited The Bad Batch, and as fate (or the power of the Force) would have it, the all-original animated series produced by Dave Filoni will take place on, you guessed it, May the 4th. Talk about coming full circle! Check out the complete announcement below:

As it stands, we still know very little about the series but it's safe to assume that it's set within The Mandalorian's timeline considering characters like Fennec Shand and Bo-Katan Kryze are set to appear. There's no denying that the success of the aforementioned live-action series paved the way for this show to happen and who knows, we could very see Mando and Baby Yoda turn up in the series in animated form.

And considering Filoni is in charge of the series, we can all rest assured that this one will be as good as The Clone Wars, if not better. To say that I'm genuinely stoked would be a hell of an understatement, quite frankly. May the 4th can't come any sooner!

Star Wars: The Bad Batch will exclusively be streamed on Disney+.
