There is little doubt that the biggest surprise in the sizzle reel for The Bad Batch was the unexpected appearance of Fennec Shand. The character, who originally appears in The Mandalorian, was shown numerous times in the teaser. But is it really the young Fennec? Ming-Na Wen has confirmed that yes, Fennec will be a part of the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Clone Wars spin-off series, and she will provide the voice of the character.
Wen recently spoke to StarWars.com about Fennec's return in The Mandalorian Season 2 and she admitted that she had to keep quiet about it for a long time. However, she simply couldn't avoid talking about The Bad Batch although executive producer Dave Filoni asked her to keep it a secret.
"'Dave, if you wanted to keep it a secret you shouldn't have put me in the trailer!'" Wen said with a laugh. She then pointed out that fans have been trying to ask her if the character in the teaser is Fennec and she simply couldn't hold back.
"Everybody is saying they just want the confirmation. So, yes, it is Fennec! It's a younger Fennec and she is voiced by me and I'm thrilled and beyond happy that Dave wanted to create more of a backstory for her," Wen said.
We're loving the idea that we'll be seeing more of Fennec even after The Mandalorian.
Catch Wen in the final episode of The Mandalorian Season 2, which is now streaming on Disney+. The Bad Batch is set to premiere on the streaming service next year.
