I have two more years to go. We start shooting in November on Part 2. And I don’t know if … Our past pattern was two years, but I mean, I’ll be on … We’ll shoot from November to August. And then our post[-production] last time was about a year.

Gilroy teased introducing new characters in season 2 when he sat down for an interview with Total Film.

We may see a new team take on the second season of Andor. When showrunner Tony Gilroy spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, he talked about how much he wanted to direct the next season but could not because of time constraints and scheduling conflicts.

It's a really poor use of my time. [Ariel] Kleiman is out in Pinewood. I was out there this morning. We start shooting in November. He started prepping three weeks ago. He's got his hands full out there just to get to November. I have all the rest of the things I have to do.

He said he also considered directing some of the last episodes but decided not to push through.

There is still no confirmed plot for Star Wars: Andor Season 2, but when Gilroy sat down with Total Film, he teased some of the story details of the upcoming series.

What's cool is that we'll be introducing new characters in the second half, but there's 25, 30 characters of import that we're carrying forward from one to the next. You already know them, you already know a lot about them."
Also, Cassian Andor, at the end of 12 episodes, has finally had some sort of an education. It takes a long time for him to make a commitment to the Rebellion, but he's kind of there. And so in the second part, we can explore a bunch of different things and time becomes our friend, then.
We're going to do three episodes and jump a year, and three episodes and jump – we're going to do four years in 12 episodes. And I don't know, maybe someone's had a chance to do that before. I can't think of a comparison. But from a storytelling point of view, it's like being allowed to paint with a new color or something. It's a really cool storytelling opportunity after a long time of telling stories. I've never had the chance to do this before.
