The best thing about First Contact Day is all the awesome updates on the current Star Trek shows. So it's no surprise that we finally got the first teaser for Star Trek: Discovery Season 4, which confirms the return of Grudge the cat and several unexpected changes.
The teaser opens with Captain Michael Burnham declaring that they are all living in uncertainty but assures the Discovery crew that they are not alone. But what has prompted this speech? It is revealed that the crew has a new mission and will be facing a "gravitational anomaly" that happens to be five light-years across.
That's a massive threat not just to the Federation but to virtually everyone in the galaxy. Can the Discovery crew figure out a way to conquer this new challenge? Will these guys ever catch a break in this show? With Burnham in charge, we're definitely rooting for them.
The Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 teaser offers our first glimpse at the Discovery crew including the adorable Grudge. Interestingly, everyone is sporting some new looks and their new uniform is actually more colorful than in the previous season. There also appears to be some interesting new characters who will be introduced in the series. Needless to say, there's a lot to look forward to this year.
The official description for Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 reads as follows:
"Season four of Star Trek: Discovery finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery facing a threat unlike any they've ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all."
Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the series is expected to premiere on Paramount+ later this year.
