Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Confirms Q's Return

It's First Contact Day and it's an awesome day for Star Trek fans who have been waiting for an update on Picard Season 2. The first teaser from the upcoming season has just been dropped and it confirms that Q will be back next year.

The brief teaser for Star Trek: Picard Season 2 was unveiled during the show's panel at First Contact Day. Patrick Stewart introduced the teaser and when it was confirmed that Q will be back, John de Lancie made a surprise appearance in the interview with Wil Wheaton.

The teaser opens with Jean-Luc Picard stating that the true final frontier is time. He continues by adding that time can turn mistakes into history as we are shown the interior of Picard's home. Soon, the camera pans down on a playing card on a table which suddenly disintegrates, leaving the letter "Q".

We then hear Q's voice declaring that "the trial never ends" before laughing. It's certainly an awesome tease at what will happen in Star Trek: Picard Season 2.

So does this mean that Q will be the main villain in Star Trek: Picard Season 2? We already know that he has a strange relationship with Jean-Luc so it would be interesting to see how the two will interact now that Picard has a new lease on life. Let's just hope he actually does something good in the series.

Although this is de Lancie's first live-action return as Q, it's hardly the first time he reprised the role in the new Star Trek shows. de Lancie had previously lent his voice to Star Trek: Lower Decks where his character made a brief appearance.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in 2022.
