Kwon Sang Woo’s Agency Explains Tax Evasion Rumors

Following Lee Byung Hun and BH Entertainment’s statement, Kwon Sang Woo and Lee Tae Hee’s agencies revealed that both artists were also linked to tax evasion rumors.

News1 Korea reported that the Stairway to Heaven actor and his agency, Su Company, underwent an irregular (special) tax audit. The National Tax Service reportedly suspected him of attempting to evade taxes by acquiring five luxury cars through the corporation he created.

The report added that the actor tried evading taxes by buying a $25 million worth of building through his company instead of using his name.

Su Company then released a statement confirming that Kwon Sang Woo was indeed fined 1 billion KRW. But it dismissed the claims that there was an omission or tax evasion.

“The tax authorities requested an explanation of the recognition period for profits and losses, and because there was a discrepancy for part of the recognition period, we filed an amended return and voluntarily paid [the penalty],” it said. “We simply made an amendment because payment and refunds were issued at the same time.”

Kim Tae Hee’s Agency Also Releases Similar Statement

Even Rain’s wife also got involved in tax evasion allegations.

The actress and her former agency, Lua Entertainment, were reportedly fined due to “tax evasion.”

However, Kim Tae Hee’s current agency, Story J Company, debunked the rumors and said that the actor “sincerely and faithfully paid taxes” throughout the years.

“We would like to state that [Kim Tae Hee] has not done anything shameful regarding this and the additional fee collected was only because she had faithfully paid the additional taxes that occurred,” it went on.
