Heo Sung Tae, Squid Game’s famous gangster, is ready to take on a new challenge as a prosecutor in the upcoming suspense drama, Insider.

Insider is a 2022 JTBC drama that tells the story of a judicial trainee named Kim Yo Han (Kang Ha Neul), who faces a crisis while working as an undercover in the probe into a corrupt prosecutor.

After struggling the secure the cards that can change his fate, he starts plotting revenge while inside the prison.

Appearing with him is Heo Sung Tae, who plays the role of the legendary villain, Yoon Byung Wook.

Heo Sung Tae Is Now a Corrupt Official in Insider

Ahead of the release of the suspense drama, it shared the first stills of the actor as he becomes a corrupt sponsored prosecutor. The character serves as the antagonist in the drama, going up against Kim Yo Han and Lee Yoo Young’s Oh Soo Yeon.

In the new photos, Yoon Byung Wook unleashes his dark aura as he grows up as a corrupt official. His character is the youngest applicant to pass the bar exam, and his early exposure to success urged him to flawlessly cover up financial crimes by businessmen.

In return, he collects his fair share. However, he faces his biggest threat when Kim Yo Han starts attempting to take him down.

From his Squid Game uniform, Heo Sung Tae now wears formal attire as a prosecutor, making himself more charismatic with his glasses on.

He also shows his notable sharp look, seemingly warning everyone who gets in his way.

Heo Sung Tae on Why He Chose Insider As His Next Drama

According to Heo Sung Tae, he immediately wanted to become part of the drama due to its unique tone.

“I felt that [the drama] was meticulous and turbulent. The script made me feel euphoria and anticipation for what was coming next. As I was filming, the environment of discussing and creating my character with the director was so fun,” he said.

As for his Insider character, the actor said that Yoon Byung Wook is a powerful villain who is not afraid of anything.

Viewers can take a deeper look into his character once Insider premieres on June 8, 10:30 p.m. KST.
