BTS almost disbanded in the past due to the personal and group struggles they dealt with prior to their Hollywood journey.

BTS currently stands at the peak of their career, but it never saves them from alarming disbandment rumors.

BTS Plagued With Disbandment Rumors

Despite their soaring career, BTS has been subject to disbandment buzzes since a lot of factors affect K-pop idols' careers. Take, for instance, the K-pop group contracts and the voluntary military service among male stars.

The disbandment rumors came to the limelight again when the #BTSdisband hashtag trended on Twitter. As it caused massive worry to fans, the platform itself prompted the message, "BTS is not disband, but there's conflict within the K-pop fan community."

At that time, BTS and BLACKPINK's fans started a fandom war wherein they showed disapproval against each other's groups.

While this type of argument will never affect BTS' status, potential disbandment might also occur in the future.

BTS Will NOT Disband Anytime Soon

Since debuting in 2013, BTS has been bombarded with disbandment rumors. In fact, it almost happened when the members once wanted to end their careers.

BTS member Jin first spoke up about it during the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2018. The group's oldest member told the crowd how they thought about disbanding that year.

"We suffered a lot this year ... We even thought about disbanding, but we all gathered our hearts together again. Receiving this award, I'm glad that it lead to a good result."

Aside from their personal struggles, voluntary military service in South Korea tend to be the main concern of ARMYs. It requires all men ages 18 to 28 to attend the two-year-long military service.

Some K-pop bands failed to survive, especially when their members all needed to serve the country. Others go back to perform with the group again; most of them, unfortunately, either disbanded or pursued solo careers.

For BTS' case, there is an ongoing discussion on the "BTS Military Service Exemption Act" by the National Defense Commission of Korea. The latest update was given earlier this month, saying that it would make new amendments to determine whether the group and other cultural artists could be exempted from military services.

ARMYs, for now, can rest easy over the possibility of BTS' disbandment since the group renewed its contract under HYBE until 2025.
