Sony announced in 2019 that there will be a spinoff in the Spider-Man Universe with Madame Web in a solo film. Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Isabela Merced, and recently, Emma Roberts are tapped to star in the movie.

In Dakota Johnson's cover story in Vanity Fair, it is revealed when the production of Madame Web would start, "In July, she'll be at an undisclosed location on the set of her first action movie, Marvel's Madame Web, for which she's putting on some muscle so she can do as many stunts as the insurance policy allows: 'I feel like I can probably do some Tom Cruise stuff,' she says excitedly."

The Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web will be having Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless as the scribes of the movie and S.J. Clarkson as the director. As for the actors and actresses attached to the film, their roles remain unknown except for Johnson who would be the titular character.

Madame Web has not revealed any other pivotal information regarding the project but it will be about origins of the titular character, a clairvoyant, who has psychic abilities to see what happens within the Spider-verse.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe includes Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies that crosses with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Hardy’s Venom 1 and 2, Jared Leto’s Morbius, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter. Madame Web is expected to join the fiasco by 2023.

Madame Web first appeared in the comics in 1980 on The Amaxing Spider-Man #210 where she is portrayed as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and her life is connected to a support system which looks like a spiderweb.

Madame Web is expected to hit production soon enough given that they are targeting a July 7, 2023 release date.
