Sherlock Holmes 3 Still Possible With Robert Downey Jr.

It has been a long time since we got any updates on Sherlock Holmes 3 and at some point, fans have started worrying that the project is no longer moving forward. So has the third film finally been scrapped? Guy Ritchie says we shouldn't give up hope just yet since Robert Downey Jr. is in charge of things.

Guy Ritchie directed the first and second Sherlock Holmes movies in the past but when asked about the third movie, the Snatch director revealed that he is no longer the one calling the shots. In fact, Ritchie told Collider that the project is in the capable hands of Robert Downey Jr. right now.

"So Robert wanted to be in charge of this," Ritchie said. "The ball's in his court, so he's in charge of the script, he's in charge of the whole thing. I've moonwalked out of that until there's a time for me to get involved."

It's not a promising update but we're still holding on to Robert Downey Jr.'s word that he is determined to work on Sherlock Holmes 3. The latest update from the Avengers: Endgame star was from back in 2018 when he confirmed he is still interested in working on the sequel but was then swamped with numerous projects.

"First of all the missus is front and center with Joe Roth producing Doolittle, I'm having a good time," Downey had said. "Though I decided to give myself, like 40 additional challenges. Like a Welsh accent - which even Welsh people say is hard to do. Then there's all the stuff down the pike, we're looking at another Sherlock Holmes, we're developing Perry Mason for HBO. I still want to do Pinocchio."

Of course, two of those projects have already been released so fans are hoping that Downey will now have time to work on Sherlock Holmes 3. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
