Shaman King (2021) Overview and Episode 13 Recap
Shaman King is based on a 1998-2004 manga marketed as shonen. As is the case with many popular works, the manga received an anime adaptation while still ongoing, meaning that the ending the creators intended for us never made it to our screens. The 2021 version is a remake set to make amends.
Shaman King tells the story of Yoh Asakura, who wants to become the most powerful shaman; a being with the ability to summon spirits and manipulate the world according to their will. To achieve his dream, Yoh must come victorious out of a competition that only takes place once every 500 years.
Episode 13 was quite focused on the main antagonist of the series, and the current Shaman King, Hao, who is an ancestor of Yoh's, but has been resurrected as his older twin brother. Things are getting tough for Yoh, especially with such an opponent. While some viewers would have wished for a more faithful adaptation, most admit that the episode felt great, even if it was a bit different.
While we don't know much about Episode 14 yet, the title pretty much spoils that we'll meet Lyserg next week, and many fans are here for that!
