Shaman King is based on a 1998-2004 manga marketed as shonen. As is the case with many popular works, the manga received an anime adaptation while still ongoing, meaning that the ending the creators intended for us never made it to our screens. The 2021 version is a remake set to make amends.
Shaman King tells the story of Yoh Asakura, who wants to become the most powerful shaman; a being with the ability to summon spirits and manipulate the world according to their will. To achieve his dream, Yoh must come victorious out of a competition that only takes place once every 500 years.
The first part of Episode 12 was quite action-packed, although it turned tame later on. The fight was difficult, even for Yoh, which isn't a bad thing. Fans need to be reminded every now and then that the stakes are high. Tao Ren is also growing into a very interesting character - more interesting than Yoh, according to some.
Fans are hyped about Episode 13, as they anticipate the introduction of another interesting character. Episode 12 was quite the turning point, so watch out for the next!
