Shadow and Bone Season 3: Is The Netflix Series Renewed?

As of the time of writing, the series has not yet been renewed for Shadow and Bone Season 3 but this is not the first time Netflix took some time before the confirmation of another season of the series.

It could be remembered that it took two months after the release of Shadow and Bone Season 1 before Season 2 was announced in June 2021 and it took more than a year before Shadow and Bone Season 2 arrived on Netflix.

A factor that could heavily affect the renewal of Shadow and Bone Season 3 would be the ratings of the second season which needs waiting for the first 28 days of the streaming of the series on the platform.

Still, Grishaverse fans are actively campaigning for the renewal of the series on Netflix.

Shadow and Bone Season 3 Potential Release Date: When Will the Series Come Out?

There is still no release date for Shadow and Bone Season 3 because the series has not yet been renewed but with the turn of events from the first to the second season, it may take a year or two before it could possibly arrive on Netflix.

That being said, the earliest possible release of Shadow and Bone Season 3 based on the release of Season 2 could be in mid-2024 up to early 2025 considering the VFX that the show needs and its filming.

Shadow and Bone Season 3 Cast: Who are Returning?

Shadow and Bone Season 3 is expected to mark the return of Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev, Patrick Gibson as Nikolai Lantsov, Daisy Head as Genya Safin, and Sujaya Dasgupta as Zoya Nazyalensky.

Also expected to reprise their roles are Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa, Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendricks, Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik, Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar.

The twins, Tamar Kir-Bataar and Tolya Yul-Bataar who are played by Anna Leong Brophy and Lewis Tan respectively, would be back as well. Joanna McGibbon will also return as Nadia and possibly the love interest of Tamar.

If and when the show would be renewed for Shadow and Bone Season 3, it is expected that the showrunner of the series would still be Eric Heisserer and Daegan Fryklind.

There is still no confirmation yet whether Shadow and Bone Season 3 will be happening but with the ending of Season 2, it seems that the narrative is setting up something more from the main characters of the series.

Shadow and Bone Season 3 Plot: What Happens Next in the Series?

There is no official synopsis yet for Shadow and Bone Season 3 because it is not confirmed to be renewed yet but the series is expected to follow the ending of the second season if it would be given a green light.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 unpacked a lot of things from the books of Leigh Bardugo with some parts of the Six of Crows already laid down.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 witnessed Alina collecting all of Morozova's amplifiers and finally defeating the Darkling, plus eliminating the Shadow Fold, with the cost of Mal dying and Alina using merzost to bring him back to life.

As Mal returns, he no longer has his tracking abilities and seemingly looking for another purpose in life, thus, taking over the persona of Sturmhond and being a privateer with Tolya and Tamar.

Also with them are Nadia and Inej, who just gave Kaz an ultimatum on her love, seems to have chartered the ship to look for her brother who was trapped by a slaver ship. The other members of the Crows remain with Kaz at Ketterdam.

Nikolai is now introduced as the king of Ravka with Alina as his queen. Alina forms the triumvirate with Genya to oversee that Ravka accepts each refuge without discrimination, and Zoya to train the Grishas.

The "jurda parem," an addictive drug that gives a Grisha powers a thousand times more, has already resurfaced, and it seems to be a weapon being used by Fjerdans against the Ravkans. Meanwhile, Matthias is in danger in prison.

The ending of Shadow and Bone Season 2 slightly deviated from the books as it did not have Alina exploding with light and sharing her powers to those with her while eliminating the Fold. There was no faking her death not Mal's.

The people with her were also different. In the series, she was with Zoya, Nina, and Inej. There was no transferring of her light powers, too, but it was teased that Alina might have gotten the powers of the Darkling.

Also, some remnants of the merzost of the Darkling's nichevo'ya has infected Nikolai which is another potential plot for Season 3 should the series be renewed.

While there is no release date yet for the show, Outer Banks Season 4 is sure to arrive on Netflix as the streaming platform has been its home since the inception of the series.

Is There a Trailer for Shadow and Bone Season 3?

Unfortunately, it is too early for a trailer for Shadow and Bone Season 3 because the series has not yet been confirmed for renewal. Even so, it took a year before the trailer of Season 2 came out after it was renewed so that could also happen for Season 3.
