It's hard to believe a Skrull was able to infiltrate Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. But in the 1998 Captain America comic book, this is exactly what happened.

In the comics, Captain America was captured and replaced by a Skrull. Their plan was for the Skrull Captain America to expose two Skrulls on live TV so that humans would become paranoid with each other.

Considering Captain America is the most trusted hero in the comic series, the Skrull's plan almost worked.

Thankfully, the Avengers were able to reveal the truth behind this and exposed the fake Captain America.

Wolverine

In one of the X-Men comic book series in the '90s, a Skrull replaced Wolverine. This was because the shapeshifters were actually working for Apocalypse, a known enemy of the X-Men.

Since Archangel became a good guy, Apocalypse needed a new Horseman of Death, he chose Logan to be replaced by Skrulls.

Unfortunately, the fake Wolverine was able to convince the other X-Men, even Professor X. This was because he had implanted memories.

When he died in battle with Death, he became Logan once again.

Spider-Woman

Back in the '70s and '80s, Spider-Woman was a respected hero in the Marvel Comics. While she vanished for decades, there had been several heroes who took her name.

In 2005, the original Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, came back to join the New Avengers. Unfortunately, it was later revealed that she was never the real Jessica Drew.

Instead, she was revealed to be Veranke, the Skrull Queen, who was keen on fulfilling the Skrull invasion of Earth prophecy.

Eventually, the real Spider-Woman appeared to join the Avengers. But she had to do her best to gain their trust.

In New Avengers #31 (released in 2007), Elektra was outed as a Skrull. The identity of the ninja assassin was revealed upon her death to Echo, which shocked everyone.

The comic series revealed that the real Elektra had been replaced months before and her Skrull was meant to die.

This infiltration was later revealed to be a way for the Avengers to grow suspicious of each other.

In the source material, the death of the Skrull impersonator launched the events of Secret Invasion, which is probably why Elektra's character (played by Jennifer Garner) is being reported to return these days.

After the death of Elektra's Skrull impersonator, her corpse was brought to the Illuminati by Iron man as a way of convincing them to treat the Skrull's plans seriously.

It was this moment that Tony Stark learned that Black Bolt, was also a Skrull. The real King of the Inhumans had been replaced when Maximus took Attilan's throne.

With the discovery, Black Bolt attacked the Illuminati but was defeated. The real Black Bolt was rescued by his wife, Queen Medusa.

The alien imposter was sent to the Savage Land with a mission of collecting the dead Skrulls.
