Ruri Dragon Creator Masaoki Shindou Issues Apology for Manga's Hiatus

Ruri Dragon is taking a brief hiatus starting this week and creator Masaoki Shindou is undoubtedly sorry that the manga isn't dropping its next chapter soon. The mangaka has issued an apology explaining the delay of Chapter 6.

Masaoki Shindou wrote an apology letter that was featured in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #33. In his letter, Shindou reveals that he had been feeling ill for some time now but only recently decided to take a much-needed break.

"'This fifth chapter looks like a final episode,' is what the editorial team told me. It's still going on! Or that's what I thought, but I have been feeling sick for a while and I had to take a week off," Shindou wrote. "I'm sorry it has to be like this with my first series, I have been really busy with all these new first things and I stopped taking care of my health."

"I will take this time to get myself in shape," the letter continues. "Sorry to everyone involved with Ruri Dragon and to everyone reading the series every week. Sorry to you too, Ruri. Thank you for enjoying this work so much even if it has just started!"

Shindou isn't the first mangaka to suffer from health issues due to working too hard on a manga. Jujutsu Kaisen fans have gotten used to Gege Akutami's regular breaks and the delays are no longer a huge issue. With that in mind, we're hoping that Shindou gets enough rest and gets better soon so we can continue following Ruri Dragon's story.

The fifth chapter of Ruri Dragon was featured in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32. Chapter 6 is expected to be published in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #34 next week. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
