There’s still no word yet on a proper second season, but fans of Ranking of Kings at least have something new to look forward to. Following the end of the spin-off series, a new Ranking of Kings anime movie has been confirmed.
The new movie was announced in a special program that looked back at the anime’s first season and the recent Treasure Chest of Courage spin-off.
While the program only aired in Japan, an announcement was subsequently made on the show’s official Twitter account.
Ranking of Kings: Wit Studio’s Surprise Anime Hit
Ranking of Kings is an anime by Wit Studio, the highly regarded studio behind shows such as Attack on Titan (Seasons 1-3) and Spy x Family (in partnership with CloverWorks).
While Wit is known for its adaptations of high-profile manga as well as original works, Ranking of Kings is a bit different, as the anime is based on a little-known manga by Sosuke Toka.
It’s fair to say that Ranking of Kings is an unusual anime. Aside from its Western fantasy-style premise, the anime’s cutesy look almost looks more like a storybook fantasy than a typical anime.
Thanks to its unique look, memorable characters, and surprisingly deep lore, the anime’s first season became a fairly big hit.
And while it has not yet gotten a second season, a spin-off series titled Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage was released in Spring 2023.
This spin-off series consisted of 10 episodes, and it featured a collection of shorts that happen during the first season’s events.

Ranking of Kings Continues With New Anime Film
While the spin-off ended last week, fans now have a new project to look forward to, as a Ranking of Kings anime movie was announced.
Though the new movie has been confirmed, there are not a lot of details yet about it.
So, to find out more about the story and staff, fans will have to wait a bit longer.
Given that both the first season and the spin-off were made by Wit Studio, it’s likely that the studio will return to animate this movie.
As for its story, fans are no doubt hoping that it will continue Bojji and Kage’s story.
After all, there are still manga chapters that have yet to be adapted into anime.
Speaking of the manga, Ranking of Kings went on hiatus back in April 2023, and there’s no word yet on when it will return.
