Most, if not all, royal fans are aware that the marriage of Princess Diana to Prince Charles suffered due to their incompatibility and extramarital affairs. The Prince and Princess of Wales separated in 1992 and they divorced in 1996 after their marital difficulties became increasingly publicized.
Recently, a close pal of Princess Diana shared how the late royal would react to the idea of calling her rival "Queen Camilla." Keep on reading to know more details.
Does Princess Diana Hate The Idea Of 'Queen Camilla'?
Woman's Day New Zealand, in its April 18, 2022 issue, reported Tina Brown revealed some shocking details about the royal family. The close pal of Princess Diana even divulged the late royal's reaction if she witnessed how Queen Elizabeth backed Camilla Parker-Bowles to be Queen Consort.
Though Princess Diana reportedly admitted she knew she would never be queen, it does not mean that she would accept Queen Elizabeth's recent support for Camilla Parker-Bowles to fulfill the role. The Palace Papers: Inside The House Of Windsor - The Truth And The Turmoil author said:
"She would have loathed the idea of Queen Camilla. But we're 25 years on. The Queen's always been a pragmatist and knows Charles wants Camilla to be queen."
Tina Brown also talked about the stand of Princess Diana's sons on the "Queen Camilla" issue. The author claimed Prince William and Prince William are divided, adding:
"William is very grown up about it...'My father loves this woman, I can't fight it, so I won't. Harry, on the other hand, is very angry. He can't make peace with it and probably never will."
Unnamed sources told Woman's Day New Zealand that Prince Harry "remembers his mother's pain through child's eyes because he was so young when his parents split." A palace insider added:
"Diana always treated Wills as her equal and Harry as a little boy, which he was -- you decide which was more fair. We're seeing the results of that now they're grown men navigating their own tricky emotional waters."
Tina Brown went on to say that she does believe Prince Charles would make a good king. The close friend of the late Princess Diana sees "him as the grandfather of the nation."
Queen Elizabeth 'Urged' Prince Charles To Speed Up Divorce From Princess Diana?
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth reportedly "urged" Prince Charles to end his marriage to the late Princess Diana as quickly as possible. Her Majesty, as per claims, even regarded the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry as a "threat to the monarchy."
Royal analysts, in a 1995 report published in The Spokesman Review, claimed that Queen Elizabeth had sent letters to both Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The British monarch, allegedly, prompted the ex-lovebirds to end their marriage in a swift matter, especially since they have been separated for three years already at the time.
The said report suggested that Queen Elizabeth and former Prime Minister John Major had "grown increasingly alarmed by the scope and nature of Princess Diana's challenge to the royal status quo."
Royal writer Felicia Smythson claimed the intervention of Queen Elizabeth to end Princess Diana and Prince Charles' marriage was to "lessen" the Princess of Wales' influence. She said:
“The whole official establishment has rallied around the throne. The enemy is Diana. They think an ex-princess of Wales will lose importance and attract less public interest, but they could be wrong."
Queen Elizabeth has yet to respond to reports that she urged the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles to end their marriage at full tilt. So, devoted supporters of the royal family should take all these unverified claims with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.
