Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been staying in the U.S. for almost two years now since they decided to quit royal life in January 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become the receiving end of criticisms and disparagements since they started dating sometime in 2015.
Initially, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry claimed their desire to become financially independent from the Firm is one of the primary reasons why they decided to ditch the royal life for good. However, during their interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the royal couple revealed the ongoing "racism" and ceaseless attack of the British media actually made them quit their senior royal duties.
Now, new reports suggested that the Invictus outfit of Meghan Markle was inspired by Kate Middleton's ensemble during her Caribbean tour with Prince William last month. Keep on reading to know more details.
Meghan Markle's Invictus Outfit Inspired By Kate Middleton?
Royal expert Richard Eden, as per Express UK, noted the similarities between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's outfits. He told the publication:
“Was the Duchess of Sussex inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge's white trouser suit worn on her recent visit to Jamaica?”
Most, if not all, royal fans can recall that Kate Middleton opted for a white blazer, designed by Alexander McQueen, during her visit to Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness with Prince William. The sister-in-law of Meghan Markle paired it with matching trousers and an orange-colored top from Ridley London.
At the time, Kate Middleton completed her look with an orange vintage clutch from Willow Hilson Vintage, which is a Cheltenham-based boutique. Meghan Markle, for her part, looked stunning in a white Valentino suit at a reception ahead of the 2022 Invictus Games in the Netherlands on Friday, April 15.
The wife of Prince Harry paired her white blazer with matching tailored trousers and a studded chain-strap bag. Meghan Markle completed her look with Aquazzura pumps, a gold Cartier Tank watch, a delicate Catbird hard bracelet, and a Sophie Lis pendant necklace.
Netizens debated whether Meghan Markle's attire at Invictus 2022 was inspired by Kate, with a number of royal fans suggesting they both wore the power suit well.
A netizen said:
“Meghan looks happy and fresh-faced."
Another Twitter user wrote:
“Who wasn’t inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge’s travel wardrobe. It was one stunning look after another."
Before arriving in The Hague, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth, marking the Duchess of Sussex's return to the U.K. after more than two years. Her Majesty, who recovered from the COVID-19 in March, is set to celebrate her 96th birthday on April 21.
A film crew is reported to be joining Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at the games as part of filming for a Netflix series titled Heart of Invictus. Originally scheduled for 2020 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Invictus Games would run from April 16 to 22.
Queen Elizabeth Insisted Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Must Visit Prince Charles First?
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly got reunited with Prince Charles since the former's infamous Megxit at Windsor Castle earlier this week. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are believed to have talked to Prince Charles for 15 minutes during the meeting.
Afterward, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry then went to Queen Elizabeth's apartment where the atmosphere was "a lot less edgy." Most, if not all, royal fans are aware that Harry and Prince Charles were not on speaking terms for months since the Sussex pair announced their decision to quit the royal life.
Prince Harry heavily criticized Prince Charles in last year's toxic interview with Oprah Winfrey for failing to adequately support him and also accused him of cutting him off financially. The husband of Camilla Parker-Bowles is said to be deeply concerned about Harry's imminent book, which is set to be published this year.
Daily Mail reporter Richard Kay said:
"He loves his son and he has been broken-hearted by everything that has taken place, although he fears history repeating itself with Harry just as it did with Princess Diana. But he also wants to keep the door open and keep talking, something he still regrets not doing with Diana."
A pal told the journalist that Prince Harry, despite his words and actions in the past two years, remains Queen Elizabeth's favorite.
The unnamed source claimed:
"He has always had the ability to make her laugh and she loves that about him. To this day whenever she hears that Harry is on the phone her eyes light up.’ It can be no coincidence therefore, that for once Harry and Meghan’s social media cheerleaders have been unusually quiet about the content of both meetings. Not leaking details is being seen as a way of getting some trust back into the relationship."
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have yet to share details about their reunion with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.
