Princess Anne has gained so much love and respect throughout the past decades.
As Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter, she has been a wonderful example to the younger generations. Not only does she support Her Majesty by attending royal engagements, but she has also been named as one of the most hardworking members of the British clan.
Unfortunately, Princess Anne would never become queen. After all, her older brother, Prince Charles, is the heir to the throne. And the Order of Succession also prevented her from being given the top job because she was not next in line to Prince Charles.
Princess Anne Has The Qualities Of A Good Monarch
However, this has not stopped royal fans from saying that Princess Anne is still worthy of being considered the queen. And Express recently came up with a poll wherein participants are asked if they think Princess Anne should be given the highest position after the queen dies.
Kinsey Schofield, the founder of the To Di For Daily podcast, also had nothing but wonderful things to say about Princess Anne.
“If anyone has proven that they are worthy of being considered for the top job, or likely inspired Queen Elizabeth, I think it's Anne, Princess Royal. Arguably the hardest-working royals within the British Royal Family. And while the history of her love life might not be pristine, she handled all issues with grace and as quietly as possible,” she said (via Express).
Princess Anne Could Excel More As A Monarch Than Prince Charles
Schofield also stressed that Prince Charles would also make a wonderful monarch. However, Princess Anne might excel more than Prince Charles if she is crowned as queen because she has a much better reputation compared to her older brother.
“Princess Royal has a much better reputation than Prince Charles and a no-nonsense approach to the world. I think people appreciate her blunt honesty. I think they both would make very different but incredible monarchs,” she said.
Princess Anne Won’t Be A Better Monarch Than Prince Charles
Body language expert Judi James also described Princess Anne’s demeanor as assertive, challenging, and stoic. However, all three qualities don't ensure that someone would be a great monarch.
“Anne’s facial expressions often oozed the notion that she would never suffer fools or even weaklings gladly. She looked (and still does) like the kind of tough countrywoman who was a stranger to self-pity or emotional displays. As a result, she could come across as a rather daunting presence. Photos of her taken with her father years ago show physical closeness, ease, and mirroring. Anne might have sat still for long enough to pose for some more formal and romantic ‘princess’ style portraits but in real life she was more often seen with her hands on her hips and a determined frown on her face, getting on with jobs like stoking the BBQ or mucking out the horses,” James told Express.
Princess Royal didn’t also, reportedly, fit into the traditional role of a royal princess because she was a sportswoman and was also very opinionated for her generation. In fact, the royal family and even royal fans expected her to sit around and wait for her prince to come, but she was more assertive than that.
“Her body language signals with her brother Charles suggested – almost from birth – that she was the one who had been gifted all the confidence. While Charles looked dreamy, shy, and hesitant Anne looked bubbling with happy self-esteem. I’d love to say, Anne, for her spirit and aura of strength and grit but I don’t think she would have made a great queen for our times. At present, the job is all about winning smiles and bright colored coats. It’s about suppressing your true feelings and being unendingly polite and charming and keeping out of controversy. Anne would have made a better Elizabeth I than Elizabeth II: a warrior queen that you’d want to lead from the front in wartime,” James said.
