Prince William and Prince Harry’s recent reunion at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral seemed like the perfect opportunity for the brothers to have a chat and reconcile. But according to royal author Katie Nicholl, this isn’t what happened.

Prince William Has Not Forgiven Prince Harry For Abandoning His Royal Duties

While speaking with Us Weekly, Nicholl also revealed that Prince William has not forgiven Prince Harry for his decision to quit The Firm two years ago. And there’s also no indication that the brothers’ relationship will ever be repaired.

According to Nicholl, Prince Harry’s decision to quit The Firm impacted Prince William and his entire family’s life. The Wales family became front and center much sooner than they would’ve wanted. And they also have more royal duties these days.

“When Harry stepped back from his royal duties, it was very difficult for William, and I think that’s partly why this rift hasn’t been resolved, because, you know, William can’t completely forgive Harry for what he’s done. It had a huge impact on him, Catherine, on their young family. It put them in that prime sort of center. It moved them center stage far sooner than they would otherwise have been,” Nicholl said.

The royal author added Prince William must have hoped to always have Prince Harry’s support. But following the latter’s exit, the Prince of Wales was left on his own.

“And I think it wasn’t just that Harry had chosen to leave and to stand down. I think a lot of it was how he chose to do that and what William saw as a great disrespect to the institution and to him, his family, and to his grandmother,” Nicholl said.

Prince William And Prince Harry Set Aside Their Differences For Queen Elizabeth

According to Nicholl, Prince William and Prince Harry agreed to set aside their negative feelings for each other for the sake of the queen. But their reunion doesn’t necessarily mean that everything is well between the brothers.

“The funeral was an opportunity for thawing of what had become incredibly icy relationships, certainly between William and Harry. Of course, we saw them on that walkabout in Windsor. But I think any suggestion that there’s been a long-term and meaningful reconciliation would be wide of the mark. I think there’s a way to go,” Nicholl concluded.

After the queen’s funeral, Prince William returned to his royal duties, and Prince Harry flew to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle.
