Prince William And Kate Middleton Used To Be More Anxious When Out In Public

During a recent interview, body language expert Darren Stanton also explained how Prince William and Kate Middleton's gestures changed over the years. He said that the couple seemed more nervous and anxious while doing their royal engagements at the start of their marriage.

"In the decade that Kate has been attending official events with William, she did not always exude the levels of confidence that she does now. She has very much grown and developed into her own person and a significant member of the royal family. When we look at her clothing from 2011, her outfits were not as coordinated and her body language was definitely not as self-assured," Stanton said (via Mirror UK).

Middleton was previously known for making nervous gestures, which included biting her lip and closing her arms in front of her chest. The latter is typically done when a person wants to occupy as little space as possible.

Prince William also imbibed King Charles' nervous gestures, which included putting his hands in his jacket pockets, as well as playing with his cufflinks.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Have Been Doing Fewer Arm-Holding Rituals

But other than the changes in their body language as individuals, Stanton also noticed that the couple's interactions while in public changed over time.

"Although Kate has always had a certain degree of personal confidence, she was often seen turning to William for reassurance during their early years as a royal. We saw her holding William's arm a lot more, which is a comfort gesture that people tend to do when they feel a little uneasy or unnerved. We also didn't see her engage with others as much as she does now, like most people that are in a new job or role," he said.

In the past, Middleton used to always touch or hold Prince William's arm. But she rarely does this gesture these days because she has become more confident in herself.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Kiss Each Other In Public More Frequently These Days

But while the Prince and Princess of Wales have been doing lesser arm-holding rituals these days, they have also become more used to being more affectionate toward each other.

Stanton said that Prince William and Middleton avoided kissing each other in public before. But every now and then, they kiss each other on the cheek now.
