Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been together for about six years. But very early on in their relationship, there were several rumors claiming that it was only a matter of time before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their split.
Of course, this hasn’t happened yet and it’s unlikely for Prince Harry and Markle to ever call it quits because they have always been each other’s strongest support system.
However, there are recent claims that Prince Harry had a deeper reason why he dislikes the British media. The Duke of Sussex has always been very protective of his family. And when he was still a young boy, he witnessed how the British press vehemently attacked Princess Diana.

There were also multiple times wherein the paparazzi hounded the Princess of Wales everywhere she went just so they could take her photos. And Prince Harry previously blamed the British media for the death of his late mother.
“Our mother lost her life because of this. The ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately led to Diana’s death. The problem is bigger than one outlet, one network, or one publication. Nothing has changed. By protecting her legacy, we protect everyone, and uphold the dignity with which she lived her life,” Prince Harry said.
Prince Harry Convinced Meghan Markle Would Leave Him
Now, a source told The Times that other than Princess Diana, Prince Harry also dislikes the British press because he thinks they would be responsible for his divorce from Markle. After all, the latter expects that her husband would protect him from the media at all costs.
“It did feel like that if the palace was not able to stand up and support his girlfriend, against some of that disgusting coverage then who in their right mind would ever consider entering into a relationship [with him] in the future? He was very exercised about some of that coverage. He definitely felt that if nothing was done to support her, then she would be, ‘I’m not sure this is what I signed up for,’” the source said.
Another insider claimed that Prince Harry freaked out at the thought of Markle leaving him. And he also, reportedly, verbalized his fears.
“He was freaking out, saying, ‘She’s going to dump me,’” the source said.
However, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Markle denied the publication’s claims. Still, the Duke of Sussex has released at least two statements urging the British press to leave his wife alone.

Prince Harry Protective Of Meghan Markle
Before the couple got engaged, Prince Harry already urged the British press to stop their racist remarks directed at Markle.
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay and that 'this is all part of the game'. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his. He has asked for this statement to be issued in the hopes that those in the press who have been driving this story can pause and reflect before any further damage is done. He knows that it is unusual to issue a statement like this, but hopes that fair-minded people will understand why he has felt it necessary to speak publicly,” his first statement read.
And just before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit The Firm, Prince Harry once again released a statement slamming the British media. It also reached a point wherein Prince Harry and Markle filed lawsuits against certain publications for making false claims about their personal lives.
Amid all these controversies, Prince Harry and Markle have stayed committed to each other. So, there’s no indication that the latter threatened to leave her husband if the British press won’t stop attacking her.
