Meghan Markle is embroiled in another family-related controversy after her half-sister, Samantha Markle, filed a lawsuit against her over the claims that she made during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Last year, the Duchess of Sussex made some strong allegations against her dad’s side of the family by saying that she grew up as an only child and had very limited interactions with her half-siblings. Prince Harry’s wife also discussed her dad’s absence from her royal wedding as though it was Thomas’ decision not to be there.
Thomas Markle Takes Samantha Markle’s Side, Not Meghan Markle
Now, it has been revealed that Thomas is aware of Samantha’s lawsuit. And the former lighting director believes that Samantha should win her case against Meghan Markle.
“I would be more than happy to. I’ve been trying for almost four years to get to see my daughter and her ginger husband in a courtroom face-to-face. I’d be thrilled to defend my oldest daughter,” Thomas said.
He added that the Duchess of Sussex should consider settling the lawsuit because it’s unlikely for her to win against Samantha.
“I’m certainly pulling for my oldest daughter Samantha,” Thomas said.
Meghan Markle’s Lawyer Fires Back At Samantha Markle
But after Samantha filed a lawsuit against Markle, the latter’s lawyer, Michael Kump, released a statement calling the allegations baseless and absurd. He also said that they won’t be giving the lawsuit much attention.
“This baseless and absurd lawsuit is just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves,” Kump said.

Thomas Markle Airs His Sentiments Against Meghan Markle, Prince Harry
Other than Samantha’s lawsuit, Thomas also clarified his decision to appear on his friend’s YouTube show and talk about his daughters.
“We have discovered YouTube… we’ve decided to join and share our story. No one came to help [him] or protect [him] when he discovered by the press that the only advice he got was from the Duke of Sussex who told him not to speak to anyone. It amazes me that a man that tells me don’t talk to anyone rides on the top of a bus down Hollywood Boulevard doing an interview. It amazes me that they go on Oprah Winfrey for hours and sat there and talked and exposed things that they shouldn’t be exposed to anyone and I think it’s so disrespectful to the Royals,” Thomas said.
Samantha Markle Wants Meghan Markle To Pay Her $75,000
Meanwhile, Samantha is seeking $75,000 in damages and lawyers’ fees from her half-sister. In her filing, Samantha raised her issues against the Duchess of Sussex.
“The defamatory implication is that Plaintiff had no relationship whatsoever with her sister Meghan, they were virtual strangers and that Plaintiff has created a lucrative career selling false stories to tabloids and television programs when she knows nothing about Defendant’s childhood. Meghan falsely claimed that: (a) she essentially raised herself from virtual poverty; (b) she was forced from the age of 13 to work in a series of low-paying jobs to ‘make ends meet,” the lawsuit reads.
“Mr. Markle suffered two heart attacks in the weeks before Defendant’s wedding in May 2018 due to stress associated with the Royal wedding, the constant hounding and harassment by paparazzi and other media, and upsetting text messages he received from Defendant and Prince Harry, and Mr. Markle’s cardiologist told him he was too sick to travel to England for the wedding; Mr. Markle did not refuse to attend the wedding but was instructed by his doctor not to attend the wedding,” the lawsuit added.
As of late, it’s still unclear what will happen to Samantha’s lawsuit against Markle. But as the latter’s lawyer said, they won’t give it the time of day.
