Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been together since 2016, which means that they have already – at the least – celebrated at least six Valentine's Days together. But after they tied the knot in 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were forced to celebrate the occasion apart a year later.
Prince Harry Had To Perform His Royal Duties During His First Valentine's Day With Meghan Markle As A Married Couple?
According to Mirror UK, Prince Harry had to travel from Britain to Norway in 2019 to meet the Royal Marines training in Arctic conditions. The dad of two's trip coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Commando Helicopter Force and the Joint Helicopter Command.
Since Prince Harry was still a senior working royal at the time, he had no other choice but to put his royal duties above his relationship with Markle. This was done even with the Duke of Sussex's awareness of how important Valentine's Day is for his wife.

Meghan Markle Is A Huge Fan Of Valentine's Day?
On her lifestyle blog, The Tig, the Suits alum shared what Valentine's Day means for her.
"Hook, line, and sinker, I am such a sucker for Valentine's Day. Without fail, every February 14, I wake up feeling like I'm immersed in a Robert Doisneau photo, waiting with bated breath to be dipped into a kiss. This is all happening in black and white, of course," she wrote.
But two years after the couple spent Valentine's Day apart, Prince Harry and Markle had a huge treat for their supporters. On Valentine's Day 2021, a spokesperson for the couple announced that they were expecting their second child.
"We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child," the statement read.
At the time, the Duchess of Sussex was already around five months pregnant. And she gave birth to Lilibet on June 4, 2021.
Prince Harry Describes Meghan Markle As 'Heart-Attack Beautiful' During Their First Date
Meanwhile, Prince Harry detailed his first date with Markle in his book Spare. According to the dad of the two, a common friend introduced them to each other. And they had to figure out where to meet for their first date.
Prince Harry suggested his place, but Markle said no, thinking that his intentions weren't pure. However, the Duke of Sussex clarified that as a royal, he couldn't just go out anywhere with a beautiful woman without making headlines.
"Great. Now: Where to meet? I suggested my place. Your place? On a first date? I don't think so. he recalled what Meghan said, to which he countered, "No, I didn't mean it like that. She didn't realize that being royal meant being radioactive, that I was unable to just meet at a coffee shop or pub," he wrote (via People).
Prince Harry described Markle as heart-attack beautiful during their first date. After all, she didn't have any makeup on, and she looked simple yet elegant.
"She was wearing a black sweater, jeans, and heels. I knew nothing about clothes, but I knew she was chic. Then again, she could make anything look chic. I'd seen so many photos of her from fashion shoots and TV sets, all glam and glossy, but here she was, in the flesh, with no frills, no filter… and even more beautiful. Heart-attack beautiful…" he wrote.
