Prince Charles continuously makes it to the headline amid the growing concerns over the health of Queen Elizabeth. Numerous royal fans got worried after learning about Her Majesty spending a night in a hospital in October 2021.
Though Buckingham Palace confirmed that Queen Elizabeth had a brief stay in a medical center, it failed to inform the public of the main cause of the monarch’s hospitalization. Things exacerbated after it was learned, earlier this week, that Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles have tested positive for COVID-19 and may have possibly passed on the deadly coronavirus to Her Majesty.
Amid the health concerns, reports about Prince Charles taking over the throne very soon have been making rounds for quite some time now. It was even claimed that the Prince of Wales already has plans when he officially becomes the King of the U.K. Keep on reading to know more details.
Prince Charles Reducing The Number Of Senior Working Royals?
An unnamed royal source claimed that Prince Charles is very much willing to slim down the British monarchy should he finally become king. It was even reported that the coronation itself would be more toned down compared to that of Queen Elizabeth’s ceremony.
A tipster told Daily Mail that Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles would be crowned the King and Queen Consort in a ceremony that is “shorter, smaller, less expensive and more representative of different community groups and faiths.” It added that the coronation ceremony would look to “reflect modern-day Britain,” but retain crucial elements of an Anglican service.
The informant shared:
"It will be a slimmed-down monarchy on display throughout. I wouldn't be surprised to see just Charles and Camilla, Kate and William and their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony afterwards.”
However, the slimmed-down monarchy plans of Prince Charles raises questions on future roles in the royal family of Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Prince Edward, and Sophie Wessex. The concerns came as The Mirror royal editor Russell Myers described how “after years of promising a slimmed-down monarchy when he finally takes the reins, a streamlined coronation is the only way for Prince Charles to prove he means business.”
The royal expert furthered:
“A shorter, cheaper and less ostentatious ceremony at Westminster Abbey, albeit with the rather flamboyant codename Operation Golden Orb, will be welcomed by a public more concerned with the ever-increasing costs of living rather than what insignia will be used on postboxes.”
Russell Myers continued:
“The weight of this responsibility has weighed heavily on the Prince of Wales.”
The royal commentator also said there would be distinct signs of how Prince Charles would look to set a precedent immediately for his reign. Russell Myers stated:
“Another subtle sign that Charles will be doing things a little differently will be displayed on his coronation day when as the new Supreme Governor of the Church of England, he will declare how he wants to be 'defender of faith' not 'the faith.’”
Prince Charles has yet to comment on the reports about his alleged plans to slim down the monarchy. So, devoted supporters of Camilla Parker-Bowles’ husband should take all these unverified claims with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.
Police To Investigate Prince Charles’ Charity
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police is set to investigate claims Prince Charles’ charity offered honors help to a Saudi citizen. The police are said to be investigating alleged offenses under the Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Act 1925.
The Metropolitan Police’s decision to investigate follows its assessment of a letter in September 2021, which was allegedly written by the former valet of Prince Charles named Michael Fawcett.
Afterward, Michael temporarily stepped back as chief executive of The Prince’s Foundation and the charity announced an investigation into the accusations.
Furthermore, the charity is understood to be continuing to offer its full cooperation to the authorities amid the investigations. Clarence House previously stated that Prince Charles had "no knowledge of the alleged offer of honors or British citizenship on the basis of donation to his charities.”
Prince Charles has yet to make a statement on this latest development.
