Chainsaw Man’s finale aired just yesterday, and it received lots of praise from fans all over the world for being a great ender for the first season. But it seems not all fans are happy with it as a new petition to remake the Chainsaw Man anime has gained traction recently.
Specifically, a Japanese fan of the manga recently started an online petition on Change.org with the aim of asking MAPPA to remake the anime with a different director because of the adaptation’s creative choices.
Chainsaw Man Anime Complaints
For the most part, the Chainsaw Man anime is well-received by manga readers and anime-only viewers alike.
Much praise has been given to the voice actors' performances, the soundtrack, and the animation quality.
Of course, there are some complaints about certain aspects of the anime, such as the removal of the Muscle Devil.
Meanwhile, others found Denji’s CGI animation awkward in some scenes.
But some fans are extremely dismissive of MAPPA’s adaptation. As mentioned in the petition, some fans are not happy with the creative decisions that director Ryu Nakayama went with for the anime series.
For instance, these fans are dissatisfied with the more realistic and film-like style of the anime which they say is not in the spirit of the overall vibe of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga series.
The fan who started the petition even went further with the criticisms, calling out the director for “misunderstanding the themes” of Fujimoto’s manga.
These are just some of the shortcomings of the anime adaptation, according to these fans.

Anime Remake Petition Gets Over 2,000 Signatures
It seems that the fan who created the petition is not alone as it has now gotten over 2,000 signatures.
Other signatories echoed the petition creator’s sentiments, including how they believe Denji’s voice actor did not properly convey the character.
But while 2,000 signatures seem like a lot, Chainsaw Man is one of the most talked-about shows of the Fall 2022 season, with each episode getting tens of thousands of tweets after its release.
So, it’s fair to say that those calling for a Chainsaw Man anime remake are part of a small minority.
If you look at Twitter and Reddit discussions about the show, most fans are happy with the anime and can’t wait to see more.
Currently, there’s no word yet on when we can see more of Chainsaw Man.
The 12th episode did feature a teaser of what’s to come, meaning a second season or even an anime movie is likely going to be announced soon.
