Hugh Jackman is set to return as Wolverine in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3. His highly-anticipated comeback has created a lot of excitement amongst fans as it opens the possibility of other X-Men actors potentially returning as well as the MCU tackles the Multiverse Saga.
So far, Marvel Studios and the team behind Deadpool 3 have been mum about the specific plot details although there have been rumors that actors and characters from past Fox Marvel movies may also show up in the film aside from Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Patrick Stewart, who played Charles Xavier in the Fox X-Men films, was asked if he is open to reprising the role again in Deadpool 3 considering that Jackman is set to return after last playing him in Logan, which they both starred in.
While the award-winning veteran actor played coy in his response, he did hint at the possibility that he might return as he revealed that he was already told by Marvel to "standby."
"I've been told to standby. I know nothing more than that, honest," he simply responded.
If Stewart does end up returning in Deadpool 3, it will mark his second MCU appearance after playing the Earth-838 version of Charles Xavier last year in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where he showed up for a special appearance alongside other actors who also made surprise cameos.
Even though the actor didn't give any definitive answer, it did sound like he already had conversations with Marvel Studios about the possibility and perhaps they already asked for his schedule in case they decide to include him in the film.
Considering that the project is still in pre-production, there are still a lot of details that they have to sort out in the coming months before they head to production. We should be hearing more updates about it soon unless Marvel will keep it under wraps once again.
