As a treat to viewers and to further promote the show, Otaku Elf had a special livestream yesterday, which featured the two lead VAs wearing cosplays of their characters.

Aside from just wearing costumes, voice actresses Ami Koshimizu (Elda) and Yuka Ozaki (Koito Koganei) also acted like their respective characters as they entertained viewers with various at-home activities.

What’s also cool is that their livestream setup is made to look like Elda’s room inside the Takamimi Shrine.

While Winter 23 was a bit of a quiet season, Spring 23 features lots of highly anticipated new seasons of Demon Slayer, Dr. Stone, and others.

There are also new anime based on popular manga such as Hell’s Paradise and Oshi no Ko.

Plus, some shows have proven to be surprise hits, including Skip and Loafer and Heavenly Delusion.

But among the lesser-known shows of the season is Otaku Elf, a comedy anime that promises to be a fun and lighthearted watch for viewers who want a break from all the more intense anime.

As its title implies, Otaku Elf follows Elda, a 621-year-old elf who is the deity of the Takamimi Shrine.

Instead of fulfilling her duties, Elda prefers to stay inside and live the otaku life of playing games and chugging energy drinks.

Elda is joined by Koito Koganei, a teenage shrine maiden who serves as the shrine’s caretaker.

By extension, she is also Elda’s caretaker, and she aims to get Elda to break out of her shut-in shell.

In theme with the show’s story, the livestream featured Elda and Koito’s voice actresses as they engaged in indoor activities, including Connect Four, crossword puzzles, and more.

As befits the otaku lifestyle, the two also spent time eating and drinking. And yes, they also had some energy drinks to complete the true otaku experience.

Releasing promotional streams or videos is not new for anime. After all, some shows this season like Oshi no Ko also have interesting behind-the-scenes videos shared on their official YouTube channel.

Though what makes this unique is that it features the main cast in cosplay, all while keeping in character.

Given the effort of the two VAs, fans expressed their appreciation for the stream as it happened.

New episodes of Otaku Elf are streamed on HIDIVE every week in the US.
