To further drum up hype for the new anime, a new Oshi no Ko short story was released online, which reveals that the other B-Komachi members hated Ai Hoshino.
This new short story is written by series co-creator Aka Akasaka, and it was released for free recently by Weekly Young Jump.
Aside from giving insight into Ai Hoshino and B-Komachi’s past, this short story also served as inspiration for the show’s opening.

Oshi no Ko Short Story Details and Where to Read
The Oshi no Ko anime premiered this week, and it quickly became one of the most talked-about shows online among anime fans.
Its opening song Idol was also a popular topic, with the official music video by YOASOBI quickly gaining millions of views after its release.
It turns out that aside from the events of the manga, YOASOBI was also inspired by this new short story by Akasaka that’s titled 45510.
This mysteriously titled short story follows a member of B-Komachi who stumbles upon a recording of a live stream by Ai Hoshino.
Set years after Ai’s death, this story explores the other members’ complex feelings towards Ai.
It also gives fans more insight into her complex personality.
To promote both the manga and the new anime, this short story is available for free on Weekly Young Jump’s official website.
However, it is only available in Japanese.

“45510” Short Story Explores the Other B-Komachi Members’ Hatred of Ai
In the story, an unnamed former B-Komachi member happens upon an archived live stream of Ai Hoshino.
This prompts her to remember her time with B-Komachi.
She reveals how every B-Komachi member hated Ai as everyone else was relegated to being glorified backup dancers.
She also expressed how fake she felt Ai was.
In the live stream, she was critical of how Ai lied to the viewers when she was asked various questions.
While they hated Ai, there were still parts of the other members that admired her and want to preserve her identity of being a perfect idol.
This is very much in line with the story and themes of Oshi no Ko, making this short story a must-read for fans of the series.
Oshi no Ko’s anime adaptation will continue with Episode 2 which will be released next week.
