Oshi no Ko Opening Is Getting a CD Release With Special Ai Hoshino Art

After going viral following the first episode, it was announced that the Oshi no Ko opening song will get a CD release in Japan that will feature a special illustration of Ai Hoshino on the cover.

This upcoming CD release follows the song’s takeover of the Japanese music charts.

Aside from the original version of the song, the CD will also feature three other alternate versions.

On top of these, the package will feature special goodies inside that are sure to delight fans of the series.

Oshi no Ko’s Opening Song Continues to Be a Huge Hit

While it already had a sizeable following before, Oshi no Ko's popularity exploded following the release of its 90-minute-long first episode.

Aside from going viral for its shocking events, the show’s opening also became a trending topic online.

The show’s opening song is Idol by YOASOBI, the Japanese music duo that also made the openings for Beastars Season 2 as well as Gundam: Witch from Mercury Season 1.

Shortly after the first episode’s release, an official music video was uploaded online, and it quickly got millions of views.

It has only been a bit under a month since the music video’s release, but it now has 80 million views, meaning it is already one of YOASOBI’s most-watched videos.

Aside from YouTube, the song is also a massive hit on the digital charts as it is still at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 in Japan.

Meanwhile, the Spotify Japan Top 50 also has Idol on the top spot, already making it one of the biggest Japanese songs of the year.

Oshi no Ko's Opening Is Getting a CD Release in Japan

For fans who can’t get enough of the opening song, the upcoming CD release will come with four versions of the track.

Specifically, there’s the original, an English version, the anime edit version, and the instrumental.

Also included in the package is a booklet that will feature a new illustration for the anime, as well as the 45510 short story that was written by series creator Aka Akasaka.

For many though, the highlight of the CD release is the new Ai Hoshino illustration on the jacket cover.

This Oshi no Ko CD will be released in Japan on June 21, 2023. For now, there’s no word yet on a release outside its home country.

There’s also no info on whether the other versions of the song will be released on music streaming platforms.
