The Painful Past of Ruby and Aqua Hoshino
Ruby and Aqua's fates have always been intertwined, even in their previous lifetimes.
Their fates were forever linked the moment Ai Hoshino entered their lives.
In case you didn't know, Ruby Hoshino's prior identity is Sarina Tendouji, and Aqua's past identity is Gorou Amamiya, her doctor.
What began as a simple admiration for B-Komachi's beloved lead idol has miraculously changed Sarina Tendouji's reincarnated life.
Sarina has never experienced the same things that other children do.
She has a feeble body and, despite her desire to go out, she is unable to socialize with her friends due to her declining health.
Unfortunately, Sarina has always been in the hospital, confined by IVs, injections, and other operations and treatments.
She had spent all day and night watching seeing her favorite idol, Ai, perform on her DVD player.
She doesn't mind, but she prefers to meet eye-to-eye if at all feasible.
Sarina's life has always been the same, yet she stays hopeful that one day she will be an idol.
Or so she believed, as her condition sapped her strength and she realized that becoming an idol would always be a pipe dream.
Sarina is fortunate to have a gynecological doctor by her side, Gorou Amamiya.
He was looking after Sarina for her parents, who were often out of town.
Gorou Amamiya was not an idol fan at first since he didn't understand them.
He only became one after witnessing how idols like Ai, at least briefly, made Sarina happy.
When Sarina died, Gorou grew interested in Ai and became an instant fan. As a remembrance, he kept Sarina's cherished Ai keychain.
Days have passed, and Gorou has been behaving like Sarina.
He loves watching Ai perform on DVDs, to the point that he was willing to make it an excuse for his patients.
But everything changed when Gorou finally met Ai.
It was an unexpected encounter, but Gorou knew he had to help Ai no matter what, even if it meant risking his life.
Indeed, Gorou died a hero, but his body was never discovered until Akane Kurokawa and Ruby Hoshino discovered it festering in the wilderness.
The gods heard Ruby and Aqua's pleadings, believing that their responsibilities in Ai's life are not yet over.
They were given a second chance at life and reborn as Ai's twin babies.
It was a dream come true for Ruby, but Aqua is dead set on protecting Ai from anyone, especially the stalker who murdered him previously.

Ruby and Aqua are twins, but they have a secret they have never shared with each other.
The same minds think alike, but only in terms of their love for Ai and their family.
But one thing is certain: they are both aware that they remember their memories of their previous lives.
They just never bring it up since it will lead to more issues for the two of them to discuss.
They are trying to protect one another, even if it means lying to one another.
This is similar to Ai, who lies constantly in order to make everyone around her happy.
It's simply the way the world works in Oshi no Ko. Everyone had to lie to keep the peace, if only for a little while.
Ruby and Aqua, on the other hand, can only speculate about each other's former identities because they have never compelled each other to disclose who they are.
Most probably because it was unimportant to them or because they respect each other's boundaries.
After all, they are now living a new life, and reminiscing together will leave a bitter taste in their mouth.
Ruby and Aqua have always had a good and civil relationship, as the plot of Oshi no Ko unfolds.
But all changed when Aqua and Ruby entered the entertainment world and their careers took off.
They knew more about their late mother, and they were preoccupied with their real father, whom they resented for her death.
Furthermore, Aqua and Ruby are now surrounded by and influenced by a variety of people.
Their personalities have changed, but one thing remains constant: their affection for Ai Hoshino will linger on in their hearts forever.

So, Do Ruby and Aqua Know Each Other’s Identities?
Ruby and Aqua are unaware of each other's identities at the time of writing. They never even talked about it, let alone questioned each other's past.
Perhaps they are not interested, but we anticipate that they will soon discuss it given how their fates are inextricably linked, it is unavoidable.
Ruby loves Gorou Amamiya so much that she changed her personality after learning that her favorite doctor had died in a horrific incident.
At the time, Ruby (Sarina) had only Gorou by her side. Even when she was on the verge of death, Gorou was the only person she could turn to.
She adored Gorou, and she had always imagined that Gorou was watching her perform on stage from afar now that she was an idol.
Aqua (Gorou) is the same way because he has always gone above and beyond for Sarina.
He never left her side, even though caring for her as more than a patient was no longer part of his work.
If they reach a point where the two of them find out about each other’s past, things will become more complicated.
Aqua and Ruby are broken, and they can’t think rationally. In addition to the burden of their mother’s death, they are affected by their sibling relationship.
In fact, they haven't spoken since Aqua revealed Ai's secret to the public.
Ruby believed Aqua had betrayed their mother, so she banished him from their home.
Nonetheless, they felt the same rage and grief over Ai's death. Perhaps this will be the bridge that eventually allows them to understand each other.
