Fans of the original anime will be delighted to know that the OG voice actor for Vash the Stampede is returning in Trigun Stampede’s English dub. The original VA's return as the iconic character was announced by Crunchyroll recently.

Alongside the voice actor's return, the premiere date of the anime’s English dub on the platform was revealed. Fans won’t have to wait long as it’s just a week away.

It’s fair to say that Vash the Stampede is one of the most iconic anime characters from the 90s. And for many 90s kids, Trigun's English dub is probably the version of the show they watched.

Anime dubs might get a bad rap, but there are some classic anime shows with great English voice actors too.

While Cowboy Bebop is probably the go-to example, the original Trigun also has an equally iconic dub.

Now, much to the delight of long-time fans, Vash's original English voice actor, Johnny Yong Bosch, is confirmed to return in the anime's dub. Because of this, many see it as a touching casting choice.

As Bosch mentioned via a recent video message, he got his start in voice acting as Vash, so playing the character is dear to him.

While Bosch is making a return in Trigun Stampede, the show’s Japanese version went with a new voice actor for its main character.

Previously, Vash was voiced by Masaya Onosaka, but in Stampede, he is voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka.

This might come as a bit of a surprise considering Japanese anime tend to retain even older voice actors.

But the direction of the show may have necessitated a change, and Matsuoka should be a great fit given how prolific he is.

Bosch may be back, but he’s not voicing the same Vash from the original.

Instead of being a follow-up to the first anime by Madhouse, this new Trigun is a reboot of sorts as it features major changes to the story and characters.

Another big change is the fact that it’s a 3DCG show that’s animated by studio Orange, the anime studio behind other popular anime like Beastars and Godzilla Singular Point.

The show’s CGI may have gotten some negative reception when it was first announced, but the announcement of Bosch’s return excited many fans of the original show.

Want to watch Trigun Stampede in its English dub featuring the OG Vash voice actor? The show’s English version will premiere on Crunchyroll on January 21, 2023.
